about

On a damp autumn evening, Jason Judy was out for a stroll in search of some lyrical inspiration for his first CENTRIC record, After the Fall. As he was crossing over main street, a motorist who had stopped to let him pass caught his eye with a warm smile. A step later the moment was over but a new idea resonated in his mind: To create a concept album that documents one man’s delusional ambition to search the world over and reconnect on a chance encounter. Now five years later, the idea has been brought to life in his next record Mirage and the Stone, but with one unexpected twist. What originated as a work of fiction had over the years morphed into a hymnal of real experiences that were far more intriguing than anything he could have dreamed up.

Mirage and the Stone is an intimate collection of stories that have been delicately crafted to take the listener on an emotional transcontinental adventure. The most intricate details of each storyline have been painstakingly recreated through instrumentation and field recordings at a level of detail that is borderline obsession. The record carries a vast dynamic range, with the hushed lullaby opener at the polar end of the spectrum from the thunderous closer. Overall there are no stylistic boundaries here as the record fades from rock to jazz, electronic, pop and numerous subgenres in between. No two songs are alike on this one yet they are all very tightly bound together by a cohesive theme that echos throughout the record.
